Your Moroccan adventure begins the moment you arrive in the historic port city of Tangier. Our guide will greet you at the airport or ferry terminal and escort you to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon is yours to settle in, shake off your travels, and let the anticipation for the journey ahead build.
Today, our journey takes us deep into the Rif Mountains, passing through the Spanish-influenced city of Tetouan and the traditional hillside villages of the Jbala people. As we ascend scenic mountain roads, you’ll arrive in Chefchaouen, the legendary “Blue Pearl.” The remainder of the day is free for you to get lost in its maze-like streets and absorb the tranquil atmosphere of its famous plaza.
A day steeped in history awaits as we make our way to Fez. Our first stop is the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, where you’ll step back in time among sprawling, well-preserved mosaics and ruins. Next, we explore the imperial city of Meknes, discovering the legacy of Sultan Moulay Ismail in its monumental gates and fortified walls before arriving in Fez, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart.
Prepare to be captivated by a guided exploration of the Fez medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a true sensory feast. Your expert guide will lead you through a labyrinth of twisting alleyways brimming with fragrant spices, vibrant dyes, and the sounds of artisans at work. The tour uncovers the secrets of the Royal Palace gates, the medieval tanneries, and the city’s famed ceramic workshops, with time for an authentic local lunch.
Today marks a dramatic shift in scenery as we journey south across the Middle Atlas Mountains. We’ll travel through vast cedar forests, home to curious Barbary macaques, before crossing wide-open plains. After a stop in Midelt, our route descends into the spectacular Ziz Valley, where a lush carpet of palms cuts through a pre-desert landscape. As we reach Merzouga, your camel caravan will be waiting to guide you across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi for a spectacular sunset and a magical night at a traditional Berber camp.
Awaken to the profound silence and stunning beauty of the Sahara. Today is devoted to desert immersion as we explore the region’s hidden wonders. You’ll visit a lush oasis, learn about the traditional lives of local Berber nomads, and travel to the village of Khamlia to listen to the powerful, hypnotic sounds of Gnaoua music. As evening approaches, we’ll venture to a secluded spot for another incredible sunset over the dunes before settling in for the night.
After watching the sun cast its first light over the dunes, we’ll ride back to our hotel for a welcome shower and breakfast. Our journey continues to the ancient market town of Rissani, once a vital stop for Saharan trade caravans. We then head towards the magnificent Todra Gorges, where you can walk between colossal canyon walls carved by the Todra River. We end our day in the scenic Dades Valley, settling into a charming local riad for the night.
Today we travel the legendary “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.” Our highlight is a visit to the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a cinematic fortress-city and UNESCO World Heritage site that has served as the backdrop for numerous epic films. After exploring this iconic site, we will conquer the dramatic Tizi n’Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains, descending from its breathtaking heights into the vibrant, pulsating city of Marrakech.
Escape the city buzz for a refreshing day trip to the Atlantic coast. We’ll head to the windswept, bohemian city of Essaouira, where the sea breeze and artistic vibe offer a perfect change of pace. You’ll have the day to explore its historic, fortified ramparts, wander through the art-filled medina, and watch the fishing boats in the bustling harbor before we return to the energy of Marrakech in the evening.
Today is all about diving headfirst into the intoxicating energy of the “Red City.” Your exploration will take you from the whirlwind of sights, sounds, and smells in the famous Jemaa el-Fna square and its sprawling souks to the serene beauty of the Menara Gardens. You’ll also discover the lavish decorations of the El Bahia Palace and the hidden history of the Saadian Tombs.
Our journey arcs northward toward Morocco’s modern capital. We’ll pause in Casablanca for a singular purpose: to witness the breathtaking scale and artistry of the Hassan II Mosque, an architectural marvel perched on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. From there, we continue to Rabat, where we will check into our hotel for the evening.
Our final day traces the scenic Atlantic coastline back to where we began. We’ll make a final, delightful stop in the artistic seaside town of Asilah, famed for its whitewashed medina and colorful street murals. Afterward, we will proceed to the Tangier port or airport for your departure, bringing your unforgettable journey through Morocco to a close.
